Celebrate Summer Holidays!

(For the purpose of this post, summer is June, July and August)

Flag Day – On June 14 we celebrate the adoption of the United States flag, which became our flag on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

Father’s Day – Father’s Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide. It’s a day we honor and celebrate fatherhood.

Independence Day – In the United States this day is commonly known as the Fourth of July. It is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from England.

Bastille Day – This is a French national holiday, celebrated on July 14 which is the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789.

Summer Solstice – June 21 is called the summer solstice (also known as Litha) in the Northern Hemisphere. It is associated with light and fertility.

Canada Day – This is Canada’s national day, a federal statutory holiday, celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the British North America Act of 1867, which united Canada as a single country of four provinces.

Shavuot – This Jewish holiday commemorates the anniversary of the day God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai.
