Summertime Fun With Your Family

This guest post is being shared by Carol Dell, one of our readers. :)

For a family, there is no time more exciting than holidays, birthdays, and the summer. Depending on how old your children are, or whether you and your significant other both work during the day, the summer can be very hectic or run smooth. I hope I can give you some tips to help you and your family have a remarkable, memorable summer, and hopefully hassle free.

By the time you know it, school will be starting up again. There are many fun activities to do during the summer that don’t require an enormous amount of cash. The first activity, which is almost a summer staple, is to either go swimming or visit a beach. Whether you own a pool, are a pool club member, or can pay to go to a local pool for a day, swimming is a great way to let the kids have fun in the sun.

If you are planning on going to a public pool, remember that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be the busiest days, so if your schedule allows it, try to go during the week. As mentioned before, another great way to spend a day with the kids is by going to the beach. If you’re within driving distance to a beach, this can be a perfect one time opportunity.

In order to save on costs, pack a lunch for your family beforehand. Enjoying sandwiches with your feet in the sand can be just as rewarding as going to a restaurant for lunch. On those really hot afternoons, devote a day to staying inside. Whether you decide to watch movies, play board games all day, partake in crafts, staying inside can break the routine of the stereotypical summer spent all outdoors.

A good way to add some education to your child’s summer would be to visit a museum, zoo, or aquarium. The admission prices will vary depending on where you choose to go, but the experience can definitely be rewarding. Just remember that certain features inside these attractions do cost extra, so it’s usually best to plan in advance and check the attraction’s website beforehand. This will give you a good overview of directions, hours, admission prices, and any other special features that may be available.

Whether you choose to go on vacation this summer, or stay at home, remember to try and make the best of it. You may work year round, but your children have worked pretty hard during the school year as well, and look forward to having a couple of months to themselves. Be safe, and have a great summer!

Fun Things To Do In The Summer

When thinking about what to do with the kids during the summer, many different ideas can come to mind. Family time is both beneficial for the adult and the child because it creates a great bonding experience along with the fun involved. Activities can cost little to no money, or involve a little bit of cash on behalf of the parent. Activities that cost little to no money are ideal for most families, especially if money is an issue.

Simple outings to the park, beach or even to a local pool can be loaded with fun for the kids. When going to the park, you can engage in many different games such as Frisbee, soccer, baseball or even a simple game like tag. Try to create a game of your own with your kids so that they feel even more involved in the process. At the beach you can play beach volleyball, catch or build a sand castle or sculpture. At the pool you can have the same kind of activities and you can also have races for prizes or simply relax with a nice swim. Picnics are also very enjoyable for the whole family and these can be held almost anywhere from parks to beaches.

If money isn’t an issue, there are hundreds of things to do with the kids. Amusement parks are a great investment for fun. Whether you are going on the roller coasters or just playing the arcade games, the kids are definitely going to have a blast. Another great activity for the summer is going to the water park. Here, the kids will have a blast. Not only will they have fun but it is a nice way to cool down in the summer heat. Outdoor events are also very fun to experience. Concerts or outdoor movies are very fun to do in the summertime, especially if you are a fan of films and entertainment.

Vacations can also be quite the experience for both the children and the adults. Whether you go to a sunny tropical spot, a nice European trip or even a cruise, all three will create memories that will last a lifetime for the children. In all, there are many different activities for a family to have in the summer heat.

You do not necessarily have to spent money to have fun, even though it will give more options. One key thing to remember is to be safe and just enjoy the summer!

Summer Fun With Toddlers

Posted by Sally:

There are many fun activities for families with children, especially in the summer! Summer is time for pool parties, sand castles, and don’t forget the great parks to discover! My two children absolutely love the pool, or beach! They are content to play all day and not even want to leave for a burger bribe! The only way is to pack a lunch in a cooler, which happens to be the most cost effective way to play! All you need is a couple of swimsuits, towels, maybe a pail and shovel, and time! At the beach there’s always sand, so sand castles are a great option for entertainment. Its cheap, fun and a great way to spend a hot, summer day with the family.

Also, going to state or national parks is a wonderful, and educational way to entertain little ones. Nature is all around us, all the time, so the more you know, the more there is to explore! Summer doesn’t last forever, but with some great activities planned and a lot of love in between, you and your children will be remembering all those exciting summer activities all year long!

Oh, and don’t forget amusement parks and water parks! These two are always a hit! Everyone in the family can have great fun, get exercise (which is just an extra) and spend time together. There are places to eat, so you don’t have to leave and come back. Also the shows at places like Busch Gardens are awsome! Theres always time for one more ice cream, right? Amusement and water parks are sometimes expensive, however there are season passes available if you live near by. If you don’t live close enough for a season pass, check with local grocery and food markets for valuable coupons, if needed.

For my family, education is key. I have two toddlers and anyone who has kids knows that at this phase they are absolute sponges! They pick up so much knowledge just observing and listening! So this summer, make sure to stimulate their bodies and their minds! Have a great time, and don’t forget the sunscreen!
